Narendra Modi: The voice of new India

Gautam Guha: Narendra Damodar Das Modi is not just a Prime Minister but he is the idol of so many young and old people. He was born on 17 September 1950 to a family of grocers in Vadnagar, Mehsana District, Bombay State (present-day Gujrat). Modi completed his Higher Secondary Education in Vadnagar in 1967. He received M.A. degree in Political Science from Gujrat University. He has keen interest to take part in drama. When eight years old, Modi discovered the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) and began attending its local shakhas.

Modi spent the ensuing two years travelling across Northern and North-eastern India, though few details of where he went have emerged. During this travel he was visited Hindu ashrams like Belur Math, followed by the Advaita Ashram in Almora and the Ramkrishna Mission in Rajkot. Modi remained only a short time at each, since he lacked the required college education. Vivekananda has been described as a large influence in Modi’s life. During the darken period of Indian Democracy ‘National Emergency-1975’, Narendra Modi was appointed as General Secretary of Lok Sangarsh Committee of RSS. He forced to move underground and travelled to disguised to avoid arrest. During this period, Modi wrote a book named Sangharsh Ma Gujarat (In The Struggles of Gujarat), describing events during the Emergency. Modi rose within the party and was named a member of the BJP’s National Election Committee in 1990. He also took part in Ram Rath Yatra in 1990 and Ekta Yatra (Journey for Unity) in 1992.

While the Chief minister, He took strong action against Godhra Train Massacre in 2002. Due to his kind nature and humble behavior he was nominated as Prime Minister candidate in 2013 by BJP central committee. Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India on 26 May 2014. He became the first Prime Minister born after India’s Independence from the British rule. His first year as prime minister saw significant centralisation of power relative to previous administrations Inspired by the motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, Shri Modi has ushered in a paradigm shift in governance that has led to inclusive, development-oriented and corruption-free governance.

The Prime Minister has worked with speed and scale to realise the aim of Antyodaya, or ensuring last-mile delivery of schemes and services. Demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupees notes, Digital India Campaign, Make in India campaign are few of the successful campaigns run by Mr. Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister of India. He was initiated several attractive schemes likely Make in India, Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Stand Up India, Start Up India, Kaushal Vikas Yojna etc that common people’s are get benefited. Surgical strike was conducted against the radical Islamic terrorists in POK by his strong leadership and it will be remain as glory of Indian Army. He has taken some historic steps- After 72 years abolition of Tripple Talaq, abrogation of 370, 35A from Constitution.

Modi was named the Best Chief Minister in a 2007 nationwide survey by India Today. He got highest Civilian Award from Arab, Palestine, UAE, Maldives, France. Image of Narendra Modi is considered of a stern administrator and protective strict discipline. He has keen interest in science and technology. He is also realistic as well as idealistic. He is full of optimism. Modi is best known for rising from humble beginnings to become Prime Minister of India. He will always be remembered as a successful politician.
